NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson and his wife Chandra Janway are one of the chicest couples on the planet. She has a decidedly bohemian sense of style, which meant we needed to add layers to the orthogonal white rooms of this apartment in the West Village of New York City. Burnished steel wainscoting did the trick in the hall, as well as a mirrored niche that I created at the entry. Breaking up the vast main room are two seating areas appointed with Dunbar sofas, coffee tables of my design and vintage Swedish chairs. We accessorized these neutrally upholstered pieces with pops of color. Behind the wood wall that we added to humanize the huge space, we slipped in a media room dressed in deep blue-greens.
