Family Home by KitchenLab Interiors in Chicago, IL

This historic Arts and Crafts home located in Chicago’s Ravenswood Manor is situated on a corner lot with lots of presence, and the clients were completely in love with their home – except for the highly dysfunctional kitchen that was too small and not conducive to entertaining. Before they hired KitchenLab Interiors they felt like they were being held hostage by the home’s style - taking it all so literally and feeling like everything they selected had to be era and style appropriate. Our interior design team knew right away they needed to mix authentic furnishings and bring in some modern touches. The project started with the kitchen and sunroom turned office/mudroom. We added French doors off the kitchen to the covered porch and moved the stairs to the basement and the powder room from off the kitchen to off the foyer – which also included moving the furnace. Our team re-designed the dining room, re-worked the living room, and redesigned the master bedroom and bathroom by rearranging some closets and doors, and adding built-in storage. Vintage rugs and lighting throughout, custom cabinetry, finishes, fixtures and furnishings provided by KLI.
