The Dakota

Apartment by Sasha Bikoff Interior Design in New York, NY

Sasha designed an apartment in the storied and exclusive Dakota building in NYC for her mother. Legend has it – Judy Garland once lived here. As she learned everything she knows from living in France (she studied fine art in Paris and fell for interior design while working at the Gagosian Gallery) – Sasha also incorporated her mother’s appreciation for French aesthetic having lived on the Ile Saint-Louis and attended the Sorbonne. From glamorous lacquered walls to exquisite hand painted wallpaper by de Gournay to her mother’s inherited Persian Tabriz silk rugs – the apartment is a true reflection of her mother. It is an eclectic mix of French Empire, Rococo, and 1970’s pieces. Throughout the entire apartment, 24k gold leaf detail on the moldings and fireplaces play homage to Versailles and Marie Antoinette.
