Family Home by SLIC Design in Austin, TX

Designed by principal Sara Cukerbaum of SLIC Design for a young family in tech who recently relocated from the Bay Area, the residence evokes the feeling of an urban sanctuary, drawing from the surrounding environment. The home consistently features woodwork details, natural hues and textured accents while also keeping a minimalistic aesthetic.

The living room features floor-to-ceiling windows that open out onto a terrace overlooking the backyard and pool, with scenic views of the iconic rolling hills of Austin. Contrasting the dining room and kitchen, the living area is composed of dark muted tones to create a calming atmosphere. To create an open and airy space, the floors throughout the home are finished in light oak wood, and the walls leading to the stairs and within the kitchen are finished in Venetian Plaster in Benjamin Moore Light Pewter. Off the dining area is a white marble waterfall island that extends across the spacious and open kitchen.

For the furnishings of the home, Cukerbaum selected standout pieces including a custom round table with Ann Sacks Terrazzo Renata marble, a Yoma Lyon - Spruce Sofa, an abstract Bower Studios mirror and a vintage mid-century coffee table from 1stDibs. The home boasts vibrant lighting fixtures including the modern “Orbital” Chandelier by Blueprint Lighting and the Cleo Pendants by Kelly Wearstler.
