Set of six Galvanitas S22 stacking chairs with the famous pyramid legs, made in the Netherlands around 1970. Six matching chairs with red seats: exactly right for a family dining table, a large kitchen table or a small meeting room. The chairs stack neatly, so all six travel together on one pallet, which keeps shipping far more reasonable than sending them one by one. Why we love these chairs The S22 is one of the great Dutch school chairs. Galvanitas made them for schools, canteens, sports clubs and community halls, and they were built to be used every single day: a strong tubular steel frame with splayed, compass-style legs and a one-piece molded shell seat. That leg frame is why people call it the "pyramid chair". From the side you see a sharp triangle, from the front a clean A-shape, and with six of them around a table the rhythm of those legs looks fantastic. This is honest, functional Dutch design from a time when furniture had to last. Comfortable and practical The shell curves in the right places, so you sit well through a long dinner or a full working day. The legs are shaped to stack on top of each other and to hook together in a straight row, so the chairs are easy to store and perfect wherever you want flexible seating. Light enough to lift with one hand, strong enough for daily use in a busy family home or a commercial space. Where they work Six chairs around a rough oak farmhouse table, a long refectory table or a clean white dining table. They are just as good in a restaurant, coffee bar, office canteen, studio, shop or co-working space. The deep red seats bring colour and energy to a room with concrete floors, raw wood, brick or white walls. A natural fit for loft, warehouse and industrial interiors, and they give a calm modern home a bit of character. Design connections If you like the industrial furniture of Jean Prouvé, especially his Standard chair and compass-leg tables, you will recognise the same engineering thinking in the S22. They sit very naturally next to the Dutch school furniture...

An extra-large Dutch modernist drafting table designed by Wim Rietveld and Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, 1959. It is a true piece of post-war Dutch industrial design: rational, structural and completely functional, and today just as attractive as a statement desk as it is as a working drafting table. Design The table shows everything that defined Dutch design of the period: honest materials, visible mechanics and clear construction. The generous top (120 x 80 cm) can be adjusted in height and angle by means of two characteristic rotary knobs on either side of the steel frame. The laminated steel hinge system is both a technical solution and a visual signature of the design. The frame is made of lacquered steel with a slim, architectural profile, and the warm-toned laminate top forms a subtle contrast with the industrial base. The construction is robust yet visually light. Condition Very good condition considering its age, with minimal signs of use. The mechanisms function smoothly and the structure is stable and original. Please see the photos for details. Dimensions: width 130 cm, depth 90 cm, height 75 cm. Tabletop 120 x 80 cm. Height in horizontal position adjustable from 73 cm (lowest) to 114 cm (highest). About the designers Wim Rietveld (1924–1985), son of Gerrit Rietveld, developed his own industrial design language focused on serial production, structural clarity and affordability. Friso Kramer (1922–2019) is one of the most influential Dutch industrial designers of the 20th century, known for his minimalist, engineering-driven designs such as the Revolt chair. Together they designed several pieces for Ahrend and De Cirkel, and their work is held in the collections of museums such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. How to use it Use it as intended, as a drafting or drawing table for an architect, designer or artist, or set it flat as a large desk or work table in a home office or studio. It also makes a strong display table in a shop or gallery. It pairs well with Kramer's Revolt and Result chairs, Gispen and Tubax furniture, Jean Prouvé-style industrial pieces and other mid-century modern and industrial design. The tops varied from hardcore, linoleum, Formica and wood. Whatever the client wanted. This has a rectangular shaped top, finished with white formica and an aluminum edge.
