By Viet Chu

Located in New York, NY

New York City based wildlife and street photographer Viet Chu, captured this breathtaking monochrome shot of a profile of a Zebra on a Black background. This image was taken in 2016, in Sayari Camp, Serengeti, Asilia Africa. Chu’s emphasis is to give us a glimpse of an everyday life in the wild, and to inspire us by the beauty and grace of this black and white striped animal. Viet Chu is a world traveler for photographic assignments. He finds beauty in life’s special moments in time, capturing each with his unique photographic style. Chu’s work is a reflection of his journey’s and life experiences. In his approach to capture an image, he utilizes traditional and non-traditional means of lighting. It is then infused with his intuitive sensibility, converging it with emotional intelligence, to create a simple composition of shadows, light, subject and background. His goal is to capture a moment in time that tells a story for the rest of time. Limited Edition of this print, numbered and signed by Viet Chu are available in the sizes below. Antique Chinese Porcelain Blue De Hue Zhadou Slop Jar Spittoon, 19 Century

Located in Amsterdam, Noord Holland

Superb antique Chinese porcelain zhadou. Blue de Hue porcelain for the Vietnamese market. Decorated with butterflies, flowers and bats. The porcelain is almost like soft paste from the Qianlong period. Such small 'zhadou' were used as table-top slops jars rather than as floor spittoons. When making tea, the Chinese first rinse the cups and teapot in boiling water to cleanse and warm them. Such water would be jettisoned into a 'zhadou' along with tea dregs and other waste. Blue de hue porcelain From the 1700s onwards, kings of the Le-Trinh dynasty in Vietnam ordered porcelain from China for their court. This type is named after Hue, the 19th-century capital of the last royal dynasty in Vietnam, the Nguyen dynasty...

At the center of the vase, a bird is depicted with clean yet detailed lines, capturing the moment mid-flight with a sense of dynamic energy. The artist skillfully conveys the bird’s vitality with minimal strokes, creating the impression that it could soar into the sky at any moment. Though there are no explicit branches or leaves, the flowing curves of the background subtly connect the bird with the natural world. The simplicity of the lines creates a harmonious relationship between the bird and its environment, reflecting the artist’s ability to evoke nature without relying on intricate details. The neck of the vase is adorned with elegant plant motifs, where stems and leaves stretch upward, complementing the overall shape of the vase. These motifs, while simple, add sophistication and enhance the vase’s graceful form. At the base, repeating geometric patterns contribute to the sense of balance and stability. These patterns not only ground the piece but also serve as decorative elements, completing the vase’s aesthetic unity.
