How do I identify my Gruen watch?

1 Answer
How do I identify my Gruen watch?
To identify a Gruen watch, look at the back of the case. Most timepieces will display a series of digits and then a hyphen or a forward slash followed by another series of digits. The first set of numbers represents the caliber of the movement, while the second set is the style number of the watch. Once you have located these numbers, you can use trusted online resources to learn more about your timepiece. A certified appraiser or antiques dealer who is knowledgeable about watches may also be of assistance in identifying your timepiece. Shop an assortment of Gruen watches on 1stDibs.

LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This great looking Art Deco Watch was produced by the legendary house of Gruen. This watch still has an original flawless dial and original factory hands as well. We seldom see this model and never in this condition. The watch is dependable and easy to service. In the 1930's, we became Gruen agents in Los Angeles California. Gruen was a great company to work with because they had a large collection, great styling, they were innovative and offered great service to their customers. This is the only example of this watch we have ever seen. It is sad that they could not, like so many other American Watch Companies, withstand the Swiss and Japanese marketing. Founded in 1894 by Dietrich Gruen. The company had their American base in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it produced a wide variety of watches, including pocket watches, wristwatches, and chronographs. Gruen watches were known for their high quality and stylish designs, and they were popular with consumers for many years. In the 1920s, Gruen was one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States. The company employed over 1,500 people and produced over 1 million...
