Yes, leather jackets were popular in the 50s. They became a trend after Marlon Brando wore one in the 1953 film The Wild One. Beloved by rockers, rebels and outsiders, the original leather biker jacket was introduced by the Schott Brothers, in Manhattan, in 1928.
