What does the stamp on my ring mean?

1 Answer
What the stamp on your ring means depends on what the stamp says. Most often, jewelry stamps or hallmarks provide a way to identify materials. "STER" and "925" indicate sterling silver. Gold hallmarks include 999, 24 or 24k for 24-karat gold; 750, 18 or 18k for 18-karat gold; 585, 14 or 14k for 14-karat gold and 417, 10 or 10k for 10-karat gold. Rings may also be stamped with their ring size and/or maker's name. Shop a large collection of rings on 1stDibs.
