What is the difference between a vestry and a sacristy?
1 Answer

There is a small distinction between a sacristy and a vestry. The sacristy is where sacred items including vessels, vestments and books are stored. It’s also a room that’s sometimes used as a preparation space prior to religious ceremonies. The vestry is where the clergy dresses in their vestments and it can be where vestments are stored. Vestments can be stored in both a sacristy and vestry, and a vestry can be inside a sacristy. Shop a collection of religious items from some of the world’s top sellers on 1stDibs.
