Fashion designer Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria on August 1, 1936. The family home was located at 11 Rue Stora in the Plateau Saint Michel neighborhood. Yves and his parents lived on the ground floor and his uncle’s family lived above them. The city of Oran is a port city in northwest Algeria.
