Zvi Yehuda Aldouby (1904 - 1996) was active/lived in Israel. Zvi Aldouby is known for Artist, teaching. Upon aliyah in 1924 he worked in agriculture and construction. 1936-51 studied art and the history of art with Trude Haim, Professor J. Schwartzman, Ds. Schiff, Pinkerfeld, Aviyona, Javetz, and others. After WWII he worked for the Jewish Agency as an envoy in Italy under the aegis of the UNWRA, on the welfare of the survivors of the Holocaust in the DP Camps. In 1948 in Paris, he evaluated advanced studies in European Art Centers. He was a member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association. He was a member of the Artists' Village in Ein Harod from its inception. The graphic arts collection contains drawings and graphic works by Camille Pissarro, Modigliani, Jules Pascin, Marc Chagall (almost all of his graphic work), and numerous other artists. The sculpture collection includes works by Jewish sculptors from all over the world including leading Israeli sculptors; Ben Zvi, Lishansky, David Palombo (brutalist), Yehiel Shemi, Aharon Bezalel and Igael Tumarkin (surrealist). Many Jewish sculptors from all parts of the world, beginning with Mark Antokolsky, are represented in the collection. In the sculpture courtyard there are works by Chana Orloff, Jacob Epstein (the works he bequeathed to the Museum), Enrico Glicenstein, Loutchansky, Constant and Indenbaum from Western Europe; Glid from Yugoslavia; William Zorach, Chaim Gross and Minna Harkavy from the United States; and most of the outstanding sculptors of Israel : Zev Ben-Zvi, Lishansky, Ziffer, Rudi Lehmann, Dov Feigin, Moshe Sternschuss, Zvi Aldouby, Yehiel Shemi, Aharon Bezalel, Hava Mehutan, Igael Tumarkin. There is a metaphorical interplay between the natural imagery international artist, Jennyfer Stratman, uses and its multiple meanings. While the human figure features strongly, it is the essence of the body that is important to her, not the representation. Particularly, the artist imagines trees and branches as a figurative link between the natural environment and our physical presence. The implied internal landscape of the body can also be reflected in how our surroundings from birth affect our sense of identity. By exploring landscapes of the body and mind, she also hopes to comment on the larger picture of our impact on the natural world. He visited the US in 1957 for the first time living in Durham, NC, where he befriended Dr. W. R. Valentiner, the Rembrandt authority and Director of the Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC. Through this friendship in 1960 he met and worked with the metal sculptor Harry Bertoia in Barto, PA. He joined the Staempfli Gallery in NYC and entered in many group and one-man shows. He has been an Artist-in-Residence in Ogden, Utah; Huntington Museum of Art in West Virginia, Penn State University at University Park; the Colorado State University in Denver; and Shippensburg University. He has large commissions at Kutztown University, Pottstown Hospital, and a monumental relief sculpture at the Emigrant Savings Bank in NYC. He has traveled extensively in Spain, Greece, and Mexico. The article and photographs described the artist's life and his collections. 1992 Traveled to Europe, mainly living and working in Germany and Belgium. One-man show in Liegé, Belgium. Study tour to Bermuda with his wife. The semi-tropical plants and landscapes inspired new works. 1997: Traveled, study-tour, to St. Lucia, near Martinique, in the West Indies with his wife. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown from June 13 to September 7, 1997. 1998 Entered the Berks County Art Alliance juried art show in the fall at the Reading Art Museum, Reading, PA. 1999 Travels and studies with family members of ruins near Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico (Monte Alban, Mitla, Dainzu, Teotitlan del Valle, Lambityeco, San Jose El Mogote, Yagul), the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, and the Regional Museum of Anthropology in Oaxaca City, in May. This is one of the most productive years in metal sculpting - forged iron and steel (many large scale works) all welded, new watercolors and art acquisitions. 2000 Sculptures entered in the Baum School Art Auction, Allentown, PA. 2001 Entered a group show of sculpture and paintings at the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center, Pennsburg, PA. Brown patinated bronze with rectangular cast plinth on a green marble base (3 cm high), total height with hinge 37 cm, width 9 cm, depth 8 cm, weight 2.9 kg, signed “Lavergne” on the plinth. - Base with old drilling and a few oxidized areas, patina occasionally rubbed, somewhat stained in the folds. - Full of anticipation - This bronze is the larger, highly detailed version of the fisherman that made Parisian artist Adolphe Jean Lavergne famous. In preparation for fishing, the boy prepares his rod before heading out to sea. The attachment of the iron ring and the rope behind him suggest a quay wall and a boat moored there. However, the depiction is entirely focused on the actual action of the young fisherman: With equal skill and concentration, he bends a hook to connect it to the fishing line. The contrast with his casual clothing, the loose-fitting trousers, the open shirt with its "wild" folds, and, last but not least, the sun hat boldly perched on his neck, reinforces the impression of the attentive care with which he goes about his work. His gaze makes him appear absorbed, as if he has forgotten the world around him and yet he is visibly filled with anticipation of fishing.
