In Kings Road (2022) Mona Kuhn lyrically reconsiders the realms of time and space within the midcentury architectural elements of the iconic Schindler House in Los Angeles. Built by Austrian architect Rudolph M. Schindler in 1922, the house was both a social and design experiment and an avant-garde hub for intellectuals and artists in the 1920s and ’30s.
The body of works incorporates chromogenic color prints, reflecting vignettes and materials of the building's emotional architecture, juxtaposition with unique solarized gelatin silver prints capturing traces of an ethereal human presence.

About the artist
Acclaimed for her contemporary depictions, Kuhn is considered a leading artist in the world of figurative discourse. Throughout a career spanning more than twenty years, the underlying theme of her work is her reflection on humanity’s longing for spiritual connection and solidarity. As she solidified her photographic style, Kuhn created a notable approach to the nude by developing friendships with her subjects, and employing a range of playful visual strategies that use natural light and minimalist settings to evoke a sublime sense of comfort between the human figure and its environment. Her work is natural, restful, and a reinterpretation of the nude in the canon of contemporary art.
For the past two decades, the Los-Angeles based artist's works have been shown steadily, revealing an astonishing consistency in technique, of subject and of purpose. In 2001, Kuhn’s photographs were first seen by an influential audience during the exhibition at Charles Cowles Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Kuhn’s distinct aesthetic has propelled her as one of the most collectible contemporary art photographers—her work is in private and public collections worldwide and she is represented by galleries across the United States, Europe and Asia.
Kuhn was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969, of German descent. In 1989, Kuhn moved to the US and earned her BA from The Ohio State University, before furthering her studies at the San Francisco Art Institute. She is currently an independent scholar at The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Occasionally, Mona teaches at UCLA and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Kuhn’s first monograph, Photographs, was debuted by Steidl in 2004; followed by Evidence (2007), Native (2010), Bordeaux Series (2011), Private (2014), and She Disappeared into Complete Silence (2018/19). In addition, Stanley/Barker Editions published Kuhn's Bushes & Succulents in 2018. In 2021, Thames & Hudson published a career retrospective titled Works. Kuhn's most recent publication Kings Road (2022) with Steidl accompanies a multi-dimensional museum traveling exhibition shown in Europe and the US.
Mona Kuhn’s work is in private and public collections worldwide, including The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Hammer Museum, Perez Art Museum Miami, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Kiyosato Museum in Japan. Kuhn's work has been exhibited at The Louvre Museum and Le Bal in Paris; The Whitechapel Gallery and Royal Academy of Arts in London; Musée de l’Elysée in Switzerland; Leopold Museum in Vienna Austria, The Polygon Gallery in Vancouver Canada, Taipei Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan and Australian Centre for Photography. Mona Kuhn lives and works in Los Angeles.

Eric is a Belgian artist born in 1965. He gained a Degree in Photography from INFAC, Brussels in 1987. Since then he has been a fashion photographer working with many of the top houses. Elle, Marie-Claire, L'Oréal, Levi's, Coca Cola, Virgin, Saab, Delvaux, Lowe Lintas and Ogilvy are some of his clients.
Among other distinctions, his photography for the Saab cabrio 9-3 campaign was awarded the Silver Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Eric is set apart from many of his colleagues by his way of shunning technical artifice and working in natural light. This results in soft, velvety, almost painterly images.
Nowadays in his artistic works, he captures women's essence and soul, transcending mere physical representation.
Eric's "AMNIOS" series of soul portraits- the model appear in suspended animation, as if they were about to born, and full of hidden secrets. This
represents a new conceptual departure for Eric, who began as a fashion photographer, moving on to classic artistic nudes, now showing us the
nude in the ethereal form. These forms are certainly beautiful, yet a membrane, whose function is unclear, separates them from us: is it to hide, or protect? In person, these works are monumental in scale, adding to their sense of restrained power.
In the "NUDES" series, Eric uses only natural light, just as a traditional painter would do in their study. Using slow exposure speeds which allow the lens more time to capture each model's unique character, he reveals a sense of the sublime feminine, which borders on abstraction. Eric's nudes are the same, yet different. They are all beautiful, yet their differences and unique qualities are magnified. "NUDES" is a series that celebrates the human form.
For "PAINTERS", Eric collaborates with a different painter for each photograph. More than 100 of them have been invited throughout Europe and the other continents. The artist paints the model in their own style, while Eric searches for attitudes, then he photographs the result. In this way, the Painters series represents a fusion of two artistic visions - something that's not always easy to achieve, yet this series epitomizes a sense of cohesion and dynamic ynchronicity.

Tony Bennett is known as a vocal musician, but he is also known as Anthony Dominick Benedetto, an American visual artist. Benedetto was born August 3, 1926. He is the son of Italian immigrants from the Astoria section of Queens, New York. At the age of five Anthony was drawing pictures. He attended public schools and The High School of Industrial Arts in Manhattan where he studied art and music. Art was his first passion. Breaking taboos and documenting and shaping society’s changing attitudes to sex and female empowerment have assured Helmut Newton’s position as one of the world’s most celebrated and distinguished photographers. He had fearless ability to celebrate humanity through controversial and innovative portraiture. Indeed author JG Ballard has argued that Newton was in fact nothing less than ‘the world’s greatest visual artist’.
Newton's technical accomplishment is steadfast, with classically meticulous use of light: bold, clean and crisp, highlighting flawless skin that illuminates the frame. Shooting breathtaking photographs portraying generations of fashion, film and musical icons over 70 years, his work was the staple of Vogue, Harpers Bazar and Playboy. His images are instantly recognisable as much for his style as for the countenance of the sitter.
Owning a distinct ability to compose the figure within a landscape, Newton's work invites you to examine the structure of the human form itself, its flesh, its bones, its joints, and question how it moves. ‘There’s a definite contrast’, Helmut Newton says, ‘between the figures and the location - I like that kind of California backyard look; clapboard houses, staircases outdoors. I get inspired, in America, by a certain kind of sleaziness.’
Newton's 'Cyberwomen' ride the boarder between empowerment and exploitation with unabashed sexuality; the thick, sticky scent of sensuality drips casually from the lines and curves of every subject. Yet his nudes lift the female body far from simple life studies or artist's muse, to hold an altogether more potent self presence. Brimming with rebellious attitude through scowling faces, dangerous situations or awkward stances, they are moody, dramatic and powerful. Frank Schott grew up in Germany and attended the prestigious Academy of Arts in Cologne, studying under Professor Arno Jansen, who was an early influence.
Moving to California in 1998, Schott's work has evolved to include the epic landscapes and deserts of the American West as well as architectural, conceptual and more formal environments from both home and his travels.
Influenced by a number of photographic peers and precursors such as Candida Höfer, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, Jeff Wall, Hiroshi Sugimoto, William Eggleston and Joel Sternfeld, Schott's images successfully blend technical, conceptual and formal rigor with a decisive sense of composition and color.
Schott's images have an iconic sensibility and give us a bird's eye view onto humanity and its constructs. The specific is edged towards the abstract, often revealing the compelling and disjunctive moment where nature meets man.
Frank Schott was born in Cologne, Germany in 1962. He currently lives and works in San Francisco.

Eric is a Belgian artist born in 1965. He gained a Degree in Photography from INFAC, Brussels in 1987. Since then he has been a fashion photographer working with many of the top houses. Elle, Marie-Claire, L'Oréal, Levi's, Coca Cola, Virgin, Saab, Delvaux, Lowe Lintas and Ogilvy are some of his clients.
Among other distinctions, his photography for the Saab cabrio 9-3 campaign was awarded the Silver Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Eric is set apart from many of his colleagues by his way of shunning technical artifice and working in natural light. This results in soft, velvety, almost painterly images.
Nowadays in his artistic works, he captures women's essence and soul, transcending mere physical representation.

About the artist
Linda Rosewall’s artistic path was cemented during her childhood. She was inspired by her farther, an accomplished musician and composer who raised his six children as a performing family act.
The experience of traveling the United States and Canada in a small airplane piloted by her father provided the opportunity for Linda to capture these moments on her small Kodak Instamatic Camera.
