Andy Warhol record art: Further Background: In the late 1950s, as the record industry began to expand at an extraordinary rate, Warhol was hired by both Columbia and RCA Records on a freelance basis to create album covers and promotional content and, from there, carried the skill throughout his career. When Warhol arrived in New York he met with his schoolmate George Klauber who was, at the time, working for a creative agency run by Will Burtin. Klauber did Warhol a favour and introduced him to Burtin and the opportunity to work with Columbia’s, and later RCA’s, art director Robert M. Jones. Robert M. Description: This stunning panel is a true masterpiece of Ukrainian art, listed in the book of records of Ukraine. The artwork was meticulously crafted over the course of two years, from 2019 to 2021, and consists of an impressive 350,324 elements, each measuring 2x2mm. The mosaic is made of 12 types of natural wood, including bog oak (1000 years old), juniper (red), amaranth, padauk, hornbeam, walnut, merbau, acacia, mulberry, cherry, alder, and pear. This painting on cut linen canvas by Linda King Ferguson depicts a diamond shape that is dominated by a horizontal vesica piscis shape. The two intersecting circles are a dark salmon orange and a deep wine red (left to right). The canvas at the intersection of the two circles has been cut and peeled back to reveal that the back of the painting has been painted pink. While the trangular shape above the interseccting circles has been painted an ashy brown, the lower section has been left raw. Her Equivalence Series began as a feminist project; works that subvert the historically male gaze and a material language speaking of gendered concerns.
