Abstracted River Canyon Landscape in Oil on Canvas Dramatic landscape by Honora Berg (American, 1897-1985). Three large cliffs tower over a river, creating a massive canyon. The landscape is represented in colors reminiscent of fauvism - greens, yellows, and magentas. Signed "Honora Berg" at the bottom edge. Acquired with a collection of the artist's work. Initialed and numbered "HB 103" on verso Unframed. This piece is on canvas that has been stretched over cardstock by the artist. Board size: 20.5"H x 25.75"W Honora Berg (American, 1897-1985) was an Abstract Expressionist and Bay Area Figurative School artist who studied at the San Francisco Art Institute with David Park, Elmer Bischoff and James Budd Dixon. Berg's friend Edith Truesdell — David Park's aunt — suggested a move to California in 1951 to study under Park. "La Belle" - Oil and Acrylic on Canvas Oil and acrylic multicolor and multitextured abstract painting by Patricia Selin (American, B 1936-). Greens, purples, blues and whites take up the canvas, with a focal point depicting a thick blue line as the base, with pops of greens and purples mixed into the blues. White acrylic paint is splashed on the bottom left of the blue, giving a lifted texture and a pop of contrast. As the blue fades out, purple and green take over the center, fainting out to the bottom right of the canvas. Titled "La Belle" on verso. Signed "Patricia Salen" on verso Presented in a wood glossed frame. Frame: 27"H x 33"W Image: 23.5"H x 29.5"W Patricia Selin (Henrietta) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah where she learned to paint at a young age. Selin attended the University of Utah, where she graduated in 1960, receiving her bachelors of Fine Arts. She moved to California, where she continues to paint, currently residing in Salinas.
