About the Item
A fine modernist abstract oil painting by contemporary New Hampshire artist Christopher Myott (1982-). In 2005, Chris Myott received a BS in studio arts at Chester College, located near Manchester, NH, and he spent two years living and working in Boston. After an apprenticeship at Boston's Institute of Contemporary art (ICA), Myott returned in 2007 to New Hampshire where he currently works as a furniture maker and artist in the Monadnock region. His paintings often depict stark interiors and geometric landscapes composed around whimsical flower arrangements. The color choices and applied wax patina serve to highlight the use of line and brushwork, providing a feeling of nostalgia. Oil, graphite, & wax on panel, signed lower right, title inscribed on verso “Trench: Salmon, Slate,Yellow,” and housed in a simple wooden frame. Dimensions: 30 in H x 20 in W, actual; 31.5 in H x 21.5 in W, framed.
