Tathagata: Contemporary Mixed Media Buddha Painting by Sax Berlin
Located in Brecon, Powys
Tathagata - a Pali or Sanscrit word used primarily by Siddartha Gautama Buddha to refer to himself. However it also the term for one who has reached enlightenment through Buddhist principles & has as many as eight different meanings. Generally accepted is the translation one who has thus arrived. And this vivid painting from Berlin has arrived! Drawing on his knowledge of the faith & his research into the theme this is a beautiful & informed rendition of Buddha. The colours are vibrant but enable one to look deep and take the essence of tranquility from the image. This Buddha would sit happily on an altar or a home corner of peace and tranquility, giving an essence of calm & preparedness to those who stand before it. Oil paint using hand ground pigments, 24 ct gold and silver...

"Slow Rise, " Oil Painting
Located in Denver, CO
Eric G. Thompson's "Slow Rise" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a red clay teacup steaming with warmth with a cast shadow on the silver background. About the Artist: Eric G. Thompson captures stillness. He captures moments. Whether he is painting in oil, egg tempera or watercolor, he is seeking to evoke a haunting memory, a lost feeling. In a fast-paced world of deadlines, obligations and busyness, Eric invites you into the peace that he has enveloped within this momentary glimpse in time. Believing that we all seek silence, without even realizing it, he implores you to dwell on something you otherwise would have overlooked, or have long-forgotten. Literally and figuratively, he sheds light into the attics of our lives, even if it is just to awaken a feeling buried deep within the viewer. A major influence on Eric’s work is the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, age and patina, often referred to as “flawed beauty.” Balance and light are also key elements found in every painting he creates. Like the characters of the objects, figures and houses Eric paints, his technique has been refined through life experience. He is completely self-taught, and believes this process has led him to find a unique voice and vision, through perseverance, trial and error. A painter since 1989, Eric now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been selling his work professionally since 2002. He paints from his travels and the treasures discovered along the way, and he chooses his medium based on the mood he wishes to convey. Eric will continue to paint, evoking our memories, shedding light on the beauty and solitude of ordinary moments once forgotten, now glorified before us in fluid brushstrokes. Eric seeks to find greatness in the most humble of subject matter, illustrated by Elbert...

"Iced Champagne Poppy" Contemporary Mixed Media Floral Painting on Canvas
Located in New York, NY
This painting by Antoinette is a stylish and luxurious mixed media on canvas piece depicting abstract floral shapes with bold use of color and contrast. The Silver Leaf background allows for the luminosity to shine through effortlessly, as the lines and intricate details of the silk paper laid over paint and mixed media add a most interesting texture. The artist's hand embellishes with free fall paint dripping to add elegant accents. This painting comes housed in a black oak floater frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed. Art measures 31.5 x 31.5 inches Frame measures 33 x 33 inches Antoinette Ferwerda is a renowned Australian artist largely recognized for producing a bold collection of fine artwork that joyfully explores the geometry of shape and the changing light from dusk to dawn. Championing her love for shape, reflection, and nature using a diverse pallet of mixed media to portray her abstract interpretations of nature. Antoinette's diverse past and a childhood that was somewhat nomadic has inspired much of her work today. Antoinette’s backstory reads like something out of an adventure series, having spent her early days living in remote pockets of Papua New Guinea, where she was lucky to spend time in a seaside shack on Ela Beach in Port Moresby, as well as the volcanic town of Rabaul, the Cargo Port Lae, before moving on to Darwin where her Dad worked for the Red Cross and helped with the re-build process after Cyclone Tracy. This was followed by a family stint in Europe, visiting Netherlands, London, Belgium, France, Italy, and Switzerland, before finally settling back in Melbourne for her formative years. Her love for nature and exploring the patterns and relationships she finds within started early. “I’ve been forever fascinated with color and the magical interplay of light”. “Blessed to have a teacher Mum who fostered regular creative time during our nomadic stint, my childhood was largely spent creating, especially outdoors”. Never without a pen, sketchbook or scraps of paper, her natural ability to create in layers instinctively started in these early years. Although her work continues to evolve, she consistently creates works that are rich in layers, resulting in pieces that are optimistic, luminous and full of stories from her colorful life. Her signature work is abundant with color and texture, resulting in a transparent quality of her works. Adaptable to any palette, Antoinette has produced works from a diversity of spectrums and mediums – sun-soaked, muted and ethereal, vibrant, as well as monochromatic with accents of gold. Her themes include abstract and metaphysical interpretations of fossicking in rock pools, exploring the rolling hills of the countryside both here and abroad, the rock formations of the Australian outback and the magical light of a European summer to name just a few. Her dream and longing to become an artist became a reality after starting her own family and farewelling a corporate life in the pharmaceutical industry, with her debut solo exhibition in 2014. Six years on, Antoinette has fast become a firm favorite amongst interior designers, stylists and home decorators alike, having been represented by fenton&fenton, Thom Gallery and Trit House (formally Click On Furniture) to name just a few. Continually experimenting and evolving as an artist, Antoinette invites the viewer to look deeper through surface layers to find hidden stories of color and form. Past collections have been inspired by visits to the bustling markets of India, the morning light outside her childhood beach shack...

39 x 32 in. Oil Painting "Informed Consent" - Oil Paint, Silver Leaf
Located in Los Angeles, CA
The artist is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner grant awarded to artists with established abilities, established by the wife of Jackson Pollock. His work is held in various corporate and private collections worldwide. Oil Painting 39 x 32 x 2 inches Oil paint, cold wax, silver leaf on gallery wrapped canvas Framing is optional because painting wraps around canvas Ready to hang on wall, signed on the back by artist Video attached for viewing The beauty of geometrical balance in Cimini's series of work evokes a certain quiet beauty. Strong layers of color and brushwork explore depth and emotion to each unique piece. Cimini's work range from paintings with vibrant color and energy to quiet contemplative pieces with rich layering of depths. Using oil paint, wax medium, and marble dust on canvas, the artist creates a harmonious balance on the canvas, or paper, characterized by textured shades of colors, with linear lines and shapes - allowing a symmetrical, meditative composition of shapes and colors to emerge. ARTIST STATEMENT Building on the architectural origins which have been the basis of my work for over a decade, I have started referring to my compositions as random symmetry. That is, creating a balance on the canvas with no discernible pattern allowing a symmetrical, meditative composition to emerge. I employ the golden mean as a reference which can often be seen in the composition. I use oil paint with a cold wax medium, layering the paint, as organic surfaces evolve within the restrained lines of the composition. During the process an environment develops giving an emotional story to the thoughtfully planned out compositions. My color choices vary, sometimes deliberately creating a series with particular color decisions and sometimes allowing the color choices to impulsively appear fueled by intuition and experience. Color remains a constantly unfolding mystery. In a recent exhibition, MATH TO BEAUTY is series of new paintings employing the golden mean as a basis for the geometric compositions which I've come to call random symmetry. This fascinating ratio, frequently found in nature and geometry, is perceived by many to play a role in the human perception of beauty. So much has been written about the golden ratio; to the point that it's hard to discern fact from fiction. But whatever the truth, the golden ratio has properties that has intrigued and inspired mathematicians, biologists, artists, musicians, historians, architects, psychologists, and even mystics for centuries. Using the golden ratio in the cavalier way that I do keeps me mindful of proportion. Just when I think it's working along comes color to challenge my senses. In the end my intentions are to create beauty in my work. As the Greeks put it, the three ingredients to beauty are: symmetry, proportion, and harmony. Born: 1949, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA Education: San Francisco Art Institute School of Visual Arts (New York City) Grants & Awards 2003 Recipient of a Grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation selected by a committee of distinguished art professionals awarded to artists with established ability. Eternal Flame III - Koi Carp - Print on Museum Glass with Gold and Silver leaf
Located in London, GB
"The bottomless depths of a private koi pond in a Sussex garden. Dancing light, rhythmic flow and a coloured whirl of so many flashing fins, all help to convey the dark mystery of a life below the surface" ETERNAL FLAME III, 2017 Printed on museum glass, hand finished with White Gold and Silver leaf 30 x 30 cm image glass size/ 31 x 31 cm/ 12.2 x 12.2 inches (Framed) From edition of 5 Series: Southern Song Each piece is individually hand finished by the artist with White Gold and Silver leaf giving the piece its own unique style. Larger dimensions available from limited edition of 5 also available and made upon order. The beauty of the pieces printed on glass are truly revealed when seen in the flesh, which shimmer in the daylight and change constantly as different light sources are reflected off the print. "I am primarily driven by an exploration of colour and form. My objective is to bring an emotional element and aesthetic balance to my work. I try to depict the subtleties of the landscape and am happiest making images from the smallest, most insignificant detail - the challenge being to portray the essence of what is about my subject matter that has taken my eye." - Valda Bailey...
