Captured when the photographer was twenty-three years old, and studying meditation under the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, these images were created at the time when the Beatles, Donovan and others were also pursuing their studies in meditation there. These photographs are rare and may never have been fully editioned. PAUL SALTZMAN (1943) is a Canadian film and television producer, photographer, and director. A two-time Emmy Award-recipient, he has been credited on more than 300 films, both dramas and documentaries. In 1968, at the age of 23, he traveled to India for the first time as sound engineer on the National Film Board of Canada's Juggernaut documentary. He studied meditation to recover after his girlfriend had broken up with him, by mail. He learned meditation at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in the holy city of Rishikesh, India, The Beatles were coincidentally also visiting the ashram. He saw them sitting at a table and asked to join them. Paul McCartney drew up a chair. While there, he spent time with and photographed the Beatles, Donovan, Mia and Prudence Farrow and Mike Love. His photos have been judged "some of the best intimate shots" ever taken of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and have been seen in galleries worldwide. This photographic triptych Titled "Ribbons" 1998 is a gelatin silver print on paper by noted American/Canadian artist Carol Marino, born 1943. It is hand signed, dated 1998 and titled in dark red ink by the artist. The size of each photograph is 16 x 11 inches, sheet size is 16. 5 x 11.5 inches. The three together is 34.65 x 11.5 inches, framed is 29.25 x 43 inches. Framed in a silver and maple frame. The photographs are in excellent condition, the frame has some minor scratches and will be replaced by a similar or better new frame before shipping, which will make the overall condition excellent. About the artist: CAROL MARINO (Canadian, b. United States, 1943) In reaction to the industrial landscape of Pittsburgh, where she grew up, Carol Marino responds to her present, comparatively untouched environment with a certain instinctive attachment to it. Photographing near and around her home in northern Ontario, she focuses on flora and fauna in their natural habitats. For her, photography is a vehicle to express her concern for and engagement with her natural surroundings and her work often shows the influence of artists such as Edward Weston or Imogen Cunningham, particularly in its sensuality. Marino generally makes only a single print from each negative, often grouping three or four images together to create assemblages. This artwork was created by the artistic duo Hunter & Gatti (2010–2023). These works are part of the archive managed and exhibited by Cristian Hunter. The artist's technique consists of the use of two prints, the first print is the original photography, and the second print is a blurry version of the image printed on glass. The glass version of the picture is shattered with an iron tool to be able to control the rupture. The artists glued the glass parts on top of the original picture, creating a blurred effect. The artists explore even further the infinite possibilities of transformation by turning something as temporary as a fashion editorial, into something completely different and original; a unique piece of art. Series titled "Nothing Stays Still", where they keep questioning the fashion photography industry by creating a new visual identity of their images moving them away from their origin, as a vehicle for testing ideas and as a form of interrogation of the creative process itself, through this series. Cristian Hunter’s work starts from that belief. His photographs —created over a solid international career— are not mere documents, but open territories where painting, texture, and gesture expand photography into new dimensions of meaning. Hunter explores how an image can shift in meaning over time—how context, memory, and manual intervention can transform what was once captured into something newly revealed. Each piece is an invitation to look again, to uncover what lies beneath the visible. Guided by the premise that “nothing stays still,” he works from his personal archive, reinterpreting it, giving new life to what was once lived, and breaking the linear flow between past and present. His lens has captured renowned figures such as Pharrell Williams, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Ewan McGregor, Lalisa Manoban, Adria Arjona, and Bruno Mars, among many others. Yet his focus goes beyond portraiture—what truly interests him is what remains when the image stops being literal and begins to emerge as a living object. His current body of work includes both new pieces and selected artworks from the artistic legacy of Hunter & Gatti, which he now manages. These are duly credited as “ created by Hunter & Gatti,” presented alongside his personal practice and establishing a dialogue between history, transformation, and contemporary gaze. His work has been exhibited in cities such as Barcelona, New York, and Miami, and reflects a visual practice grounded in experience, exploration, and ongoing evolution.
