Wave Nude Photography

Leonard Freed’s stamped vintage photograph, 16" x 20", gelatin silver print, Kate #14, is from the Kate series, 2002. A photographer herself, model and yogini Kate remains complicit in striking dramatic poses for the Kate nude series by Freed. In this image Kate's arms are outstretched, body arched on the backside of a person in a downward dog yoga pose. On the edge of a cliff with the ebb and flow of the sea and waves many feet below, the duo remain in balance above swirling waters. Kate's trust in the universe is revealed in her youthful fearlessness and love of freedom. Alex Sher is an award-winning American underwater fine art photographer whose admiration of feminine sensuality heralded him to worldwide acclaim. Sher was born in Ukraine in 1962 and started taking photographs at the age of twelve. He graduated from Kyiv University in 1984. Two years later, he volunteered as medical personnel to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster recovery. When asked about that time, he says "having no clue how much radiation you are getting makes you appreciate every breath - pretty much what you feel underwater." Alex Sher started showing his photographs in the early nineties; however, he considered himself an amateur artist until his work was stolen from an exhibition in Kyiv.
