Renowned for his profound reimaginations of classical portraiture, Wiley's influence on the contemporary art scene is as undeniable as it is transformative. About the Artist: Kehinde Wiley, born in Los Angeles in 1977, emerged as a luminary in the art world with a vision that defied convention. His journey was one of innovation, guided by a profound respect for history and a boundless determination to redefine it. Wiley's artistry is a testament to the dynamic interplay between tradition and reinvention. Deeply influenced by the 18th Century's classical biblical portraiture, Wiley's creative alchemy gave birth to "Death of St. Joseph." St. Joseph, a figure steeped in enigmatic art history, found new life under Wiley's masterful hand. The bright and bold colours of the butterflies make this a joyful piece. Olsen’s use of perspex allows for work to fit sleekly into any interior. Michael Olsen says: My working life has lead me down numerous paths. Retailing medicines through my Pharmacy business in the early years to creating the 1st UK Pet superstore in 1990 and more recently operating a coffee shop, I’ve almost always enjoyed how I’ve earned my living. Having spent the greater part of my 74 years making things simply for pleasure or for practical purposes, more recently I’ve been able to allow my artistic impulses develop. What was a hobby has now become a full time and gratifying venture. I enjoy the simple, beautiful things that life has to offer – family, love, the outdoors (cycling through it), music (better heard through a needle) and time spent happily with others as well as alone – all of which inspire me to try to create things to enhance the enjoyment of life. I’ve always been fascinated by nature and in particular butterflies. To me, there is something captivating about that moment when a butterfly stops to allow an onlooker to admire its form. Using this as my stimulus I wanted to see if I could create something that was both contemporary and visually stimulating. An installation which could be displayed in homes, offices, restaurants as well as hotel rooms. I decided to create a flight of butterflies...

Sweet Tooth (Mixed Media Conceptual Art Box of half-eaten Chocolates Sculpture)
By Rona Pondick
Located in New York, NY
Rona Pondick Sweet Tooth, 1988 Linen, acid-free binder board, basswood, rubber, plastic Held in hand made box In this work, an elegant wooden box with photographically screened linen opens up to reveal a burst of color and an enticing, sumptuous surprise. Sweet Tooth takes artist Rona Pondick's famous Little Bathers (1990-1991) to a whole new dimension, creating rubber "sweets" in a lavish setting. She is also wryly subversive - as the sweets are the teeth and the teeth are the sweets: the chocolates are literally in the shape of teeth. A great gift for a chocolate loving art collector with an ironic sense of humor! Known for her provocative sculptures and installations that are simultaneously hilarious and horrific, Pondick combines dissonant fragments of bodies, such as teeth and ears, with pieces of furniture and articles of clothing to make pre-verbal, visceral meanings. Published by the New Museum...
