Barber Poles

Unusual variation of the Classic American barber shop pole on an architectural base. Original paint

barber's pole stringing in ebony and box; the front of the caddy is also inlaid with a pair of marquetry

with feather banding and barber's pole stringing and retaining its original fire gilded handle; the

central oval of blackthorn edged with barber's pole stringing and surrounded by rings of inlaid boxwood

. The design is sometimes called the Barber pole pattern. Few examples dating back to the 19th century

doors with multifaceted raised fielded panels, each surrounded by holly and ebony barber-pole inlay, the

traditional beadwork. The exterior has the twisted rope or "barber pole" trim. The top has a floral and
