Vintage Caucasian Navy Blue Wool Karabakh 'Qarabag' Rug, ca. 1940

About the Item

The abrashed deep blue field with overall design of bold animal figures and large birds together with polychrome serrated palmettes, angular vine, small floral motifs and small stylised animal figures. In rust border of stylised floral motifs between barber-pole stripes. Very well drawn design with number of animals and birds with good colour combination. Well balanced piece. This rug is good pile and is in very good usable condition throughout. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages original. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
