Oversize Mid-Century Modern Fat Lava table lamp by Carstens Tönnieshof, West Germany, with new teal-gray and orange jacquard drum lampshade by Amitābha Studio. This oversized 38-inch table lamp (approx. 3 ft; 96 cm) is a commanding, sculptural presence—an authentic lava glaze table lamp remade as functional art. The vase base captures the high drama of late-’60s mid-century modernist West German pottery: a smoky blue-gray gradient dissolves into a glossy, molten band of vivid orange that flows over a cratered, black “lava” texture. The mix of matte, gloss, and bubbled surfaces shimmers like cooled magma. We’ve echoed that energy above with a custom extra-tall shade in textured jacquard by Linwood (UK), woven in Italy: a teal-gray ground embroidered with a coral-inspired chenille pattern in orange, finished with Houlès Paris trim and a matching orange fabric-covered cord.
