Glass Ceiling Lamp by Wilhelm Wagenfeld for Peill & Putzler, 1954
By Peill & Putzler, Wilhelm Wagenfeld
Located in Nürnberg, Bayern
Design by Wilhelm Wagenfeld for Peill & Putzler, Du¨ren, Germany 1954. 1x E27 socket. Measures: Total height 110cm. Diameter 24cm. The Peill and Sohn Glassworks in Düren, destroyed in World War II, and the Putzler brothers' works in Penzig, expropriated by the Polish state, merged in 1946. This resulted in the Dürener Werk with the directors Günther Peill and Hans Ahrenkiel under the name Peill + Putzler in 1952. The first glass was melted in 1948. In 1994 this important smelter had to stop its work. Important designers such as Prof. Wagenfeld, Wilhelm Braun-Feldweg and Aloys F. Gangkofner worked for Glashüttenwerke Peill and Putzler and made it known above all among architects. The cooperation with Aloys F. Gangkofner lasted from 1953-1958. A multitude of lighting models as well as goblet sets were created. The timeless iris glass...
