Heavy Silver

A brass and wood wall mirror designed and produced in Italy, c. 1950s. Moderate to heavy wear to silvering consistent with age and use.

The straight bottom hemline is heavily embellished with matching silver-tone studs and finishes with a cascading layer of multi-row draped metal chainmail fringe.

However, the soul of the piece resides in the original mercury-silvered glass. Heavily oxidized, the plate has evolved into a nebula of cloudy greys and atmospheric spots.

Materials: Black velvet; iridescent silver-pink fabric. No care label. Country of origin unknown.
