The lower sliding doors secure a compartment which has three kiri wood drawers. The terms Echigo and Etchu refer to what are now Niigata and Toyama Prefectures.

The top section is made with a drop fit door, when removed reveals 6 kiri wood drawers with Kakute iron handles and forged hardware distictive to Sado Island.

Comes with the original fitted black lacquer kiri-wood box inscribed in silver lacquer "Tebako with Gold Lacquer Fan".
