Mechanical Bird Singing Box Reuge
Located in Newark, England
Fine contemporary mechanical bird singing box by Reuge. The box beautifully crafted with an engine turned gilt metal frame stood upon four ball feet. To the panels simulated Lapis-Lazuli is delicately placed with layers of lacquer showing glints of metallic gold in the light. When wound to the underside and the leaver pulled gently it lifts the lid revealing a beautiful metal scroll working with a bird outline and nearly instantly after a brightly feathered bird majestically rises up singing while flapping its wings and bobbing from side to side. This particular box has been manufactured by one of the most respected manufacters to this day, Reuge of Switzerland and is complete with its box and instructions. Second half of the 20th century.
