Picard Bronze

The superb gilt bronze and Carrara marble case is signed by the renown Henri Picard to the rear lower left and '1635' to the rear lower right.

1870s clock by Denière et Picar, model by Ferdinand Berthoud, in gilt bronze, marble and glassed metal.

The case is stamped H. Picard (Henri Picard Paris, 1840-1890), the works stamped Raingo Freres Paris.

The candelabra are stamped, ‘H. Picard’. Each gilt bronze candelabrum has ten lights.

They are the work of Henri Picard, an important bronze founder working in the 19th Century, and demonstrate a sublime command of detail as well as ingenuity of design.

The set comprises a central clock and two flanking candelabra, all cast in intricately decorated gilt bronze and featuring complimenting neoclassical style motifs.
