Warp & Fade 017 is a unique handblown glass vessel with fine white cane detail created by the British artist Liam Reeves. Incorporating layers of glass, the top colours in blue and red merge to create a larger spectrum, as the hues blur from one to the other. The entire piece is finally sandblasted creating a soft satin, diffused finish. Liam Reeves has been making glass professionally since 1998 when he graduated from Middlesex University with a BA (Hons) in three-dimensional design. During this time he has honed his skills whilst working in the glass industry for some of the best glassmakers in the UK. In 2009 Reeves studied for an MA at the RCA in order to explore the creative possibilities of the medium of glassblowing. He is currently hot-glass technician at the very same and prestigious Royal College of Art in London. While at the RCA Liam discovered a passion for investigating pivotal techniques from glassblowing’s two-millennia of rich history. The Gallery stool. A sculptural modern organic side table/stool turned from a solid block of macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress). The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life. The macrocarpa wood will continue to dry out as it finds its equilibrium moisture content of its new environment. Tréology is about connecting people to nature through functional art. Odyssey was created after a road trip to New Zealand's wild West Coast to observe nature’s craft work. Looking deep into nature, we saw the layered rock formations along the sea coast and rivers of New Zealand to achieve a functional table base. The design progression sought to bring layering metaphors into the piece, but a solid mass would be visually too heavy. The solution was to add volume through the introduction of negative space and deliver an abstract representation of the rocks and boulders we observed. The Ebb & Flow credenza was inspired by our observations of an ocean worn cliff face on the wild West Coast of New Zealand. Our search for design inspiration took us on an adventure to the Truman Track - a walk through unspoiled subtropical forest where ancient native trees tower above thickets of vine and palms. The track emerges on a spectacular coastline with cliffs, caverns, and a waterfall that plummets straight onto a rock-strewn beach. The Ebb & Flow credenza is our representation of the powerful ocean forces that have shaped the natural landscape of New Zealand. The credenza is made from a matai tree (New Zealand native tree) rescued from a river on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, has been carbon dated at over 1500 years old. The trees location co-ordinates are inscribed on a stainless Tréology tag and attached to the credenza, connecting the owner to a unique piece of New Zealand nature.
