We have been collecting Steve Chase designed furniture since 1997. There is not one style that we have not had designed by the late, great, highly respected and collected designer. The”Penthouse” series is the sexiest. It came in a sofa, love seat, and this rare chaise lounge. This set was made while Mr. Chase was alive. Only 2 manufacturers in Los Angeles made upholstery pieces for Steve Chase. This set, custom made by A.Rudin. Has been newly redone in European bouclè. It is a beautiful off white color. The pillow options are endless. We currently have the matching sofa from this vintage country club estate in Indian Wells California that is awaiting upholstery to match this piece. This spectacular chaise lounge came from a very high end Rancho Mirage Estate designed entirely by the late Steve Chase. The intricate marshmallow tufted piece was originally custom made in Los Angeles for Mr. Chase by A. Rudin. We have just reupholstered the very collectible piece in a high end, yarn-dye chenille fabric. We picked a cream color with light grey threads. This chaise lounge has the most detailed and labor intensive amount of biscuit tufting with upholstered buttons between the square tufts. The most special Steve Chase upholstered piece we have had in 10 years in our Palm Springs shop. Known for their contemporary elegance and comfort, Steve Chase’s residential interiors embodied the casual yet opulent style of California’s affluent. Natural elements such as wood, granite and leather prevailed in his sensuous designs, often enhanced by subtle lighting. Preferring to work closely with each project’s architect, Chase deftly blended all the elements of design to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Realizing his talents earlier than most, Chase began shaping his career and his distinctive style at age seventeen when he joined the design firm of La Tienda in Los Angeles. A 14-year affiliation with Arthur Elrod Associates followed, ending in 1980 with the founding of his namesake firm, Steve Chase Associates. With a staff of more than 20 based in Rancho Mirage, California, Chase’s projects extended beyond his signature residential work to include aircraft, yachts and homes in such far-off lands as Singapore and Germany.
