Alexandra de Grave is a Belgian artist born in 1971 who lives & works in Mouscron, Belgium. Artist of Brussels origins, Alexandra exhibits regularly in Europe, Asia and the USA. She came to painting by side roads, the creative process responding for her to an ardent "inner necessity". After a long gestural work, an abundance of shades of bright and dazzling colors comes to life on the canvas like so many ramparts in the dark. These large, vibrant and poetic canvases express the strength of the living and the fierce rejection of any determinism or fatalism. They are like an act of resistance.to
