Pair of monumental bronze ewers in Renaissance Revival style featuring a celebration of Dionysian decadence. A bacchanal scene decorates the midsection of each ewer, presenting a motif of reveling putti in the throes of euphoric celebration. Several putti are dancing, drinking and playing musical instruments while another putto romps through the scene atop a ram. A Bacchante is laying down in a carriage, holding a grape vine. The neck and spout of the ewers are elaborately decorated with foliage and grape vine, while a winged putto surmount the curved handle. The handle terminates at the body of the ewer with a ram's head, while the circular base is ornamented with a decorative wreath.
