Lucien Smith (American, b. 1989) Untitled (Scrap Metal 4415), 2013 Steel 35 x 35 x 15 inches Provenance: OHWOW, Los Angeles Private Collection Wright, 2015, Lot 139 One of the most highly-regarded contemporary artists, Lucien Smith is a name whose work people (and institutions) have been paying much attention to since he graduated Cooper Union. He produced readymade sculptures that the artist has secured and appropriated from the annual Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot in Kentucky. Consisting of propane tanks, oil drums, automobile parts, and even a full-length truck, the metal objects have all been fired on by thousands of rounds of ammunition from handguns, assault rifles, fully automatic rifles, to a powerful Gatling Gun...

"Tonka I" is the first piece in a 3 piece series of monochromatic wall sculptures. Tonka I features a matte metallic champagne finish made from automotive enamel. The result is a stunning metallic surface that absorbs light and looks extremely rich and luxe. Four different levels of depth and thicknesses on the piece allow for striking shadows when spotlights are used to light the piece. The pinlines are metallic charcoal gunmetal and red. Finally, the name "Tonka" comes from the inspiration for these pieces. The pieces are meant to abstractly resemble Native American dancers...

Amadeo Gabino (1922-2004). Untitled, 1970. Bronze on rotating base, edition 50. Signed and numbered 36/50. Excellent condition. Biography: Amadeo Gabino was born in 1922 in Valencia, where he received his artistic training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos (from 1939 to 1944). Gabino spent several years abroad, including Rome in 1949, Paris in 1952 and Hamburg from 1958 to 1960, where he was active at the local Academy of Arts. In 1961, Gabino was enabled through a scholarship to go to New York, where he met his fellows Alexander Archipenko, Jacques Lipchitz and Alexander Calder. A well-established sculptor, the artist was awarded with a number of prizes and represented his nation at the Venice Biennale in 1956 and 1966. His works are included in international collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, the Brooklyn Museum in New York and the Kunsthalle in Mannheim. His large-scale COR-TEN steel sculptures, dating from 1990 and later, were particularly created for public environments; examples of these impressive works can be found, among others, on the banks of the Danube in Linz ('Tribute to Anton Bruckner...
