Amalia Polleri Art

Uruguayan, 1919-1996

Amalia Polleri was an Uruguayan painter, sculptor, printmaker, art critic, and teacher, as well as a print and radio journalist and defender of women’s rights. She won the 1st prize in drawing and engraving, National Hall, 1942, and in 1995 received the Gold Candelabra Prize for lifetime achievement by the Jewish organization B'nai B'rith Uruguay. In 2013, a retrospective exhibition of her work was held at the Gurvich Museum, Montevideo.
