Andrew Lyman remains committed to realism, though his style elicits some sort of mysterious dreamscape quality that is hard to put your finger on. It's the sort of distinctive quality that marks the works of significant emerging artists. Lyman’s statement about his work in general, “My paintings draw from movies and photographs to create images that appear cinematic in structure, but lack the illusion of decisiveness intrinsic to that medium. Leading lines fracture the picture plane, encouraging the eye to wander through narratives that are never quite conclusive. These are not climactic moments or characters of action. They, like us, are prone to looking around—often at one another; a little bewildered, somewhat remote. Certain figures and objects are rendered in detail, while others might be reduced to a flattened silhouette, or are dripping away, or else are only suggested by a rogue protruding limb. All that goes unsaid evokes a sense of unease that is distinct from our time.”

Dorit Levi was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1952, her Yemenite upbringing and culture playing an important role in her art. Her talent enabled her to study at the prestigious Wizo France Art School in her native city, where she had the great fortune to learn from one of Israel's greatest artists, Edwin Salomon. The artist's personal experiences in Uganda, Africa where she lived for several years, are reflected in many of her paintings. The vast savannas translate into the warm colors of backdrops, and the flow and movement of her vibrant figures are inspired by Uganda's colorful markets and the people in embroidered garb. Dorit's works are remarkable in her use of gold leaf and the enormous attention to detail and complex composition. Each time one looks at a Dorit Levi painting new aspects and new configurations are discovered. More than anything, the collectors of her contemporary artworks remark on the feeling of joy, optimism and peace they inspire. The influences of Bolivian artist Rodo Boulanger, as well as cubist Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, and the cubism of Georges Braque are a background for the distinct signature of Levi's lyrical style, forged of her strong artistic vision and of a wealth of personal experiences. She shows at the prestigious Safrai Art Gallery in Jerusalem Israel and has been exhibited with Raphael Abecassis, Ben Simhon, Yosl Bergner, Naftali Bezem , Sami Briss, Amram Ebgi, Alexander Klevan, Gregory Kohelet, Yuvl Mahler, Ran Haya Graetz, Zina Rothman, Michael Rozenvein, David Sharir, Reuven Rubin, Theo Tobiasse, Yuri Tremler, Shraga Weil, Wissotzky and Avigail Yoresh...
