Antoine Dubost was born on July 16, 1769 in Lyon, rue Pizay. Dubost was the eldest son of Benoîte Montanier and the wealthy grocer-druggist Hugues Dubost. His maternal aunt and godmother, Flore Montanier was the wife of the surgeon Jean-Baptiste Pressavin.
