Title: Rincón de Horta (Corner of Horta) Artist: Antoni Llobet Aracil (Barcelona, 1910 – 1983) Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 46 × 55 cm (18.1 × 21.7 in) Support: Canvas on stretcher Signature: Signed “A. Llobet” in the lower right corner Inscription on reverse: “Rincón de Horta” Estimated period: 1950s–1960s Condition: Good Provenance: Private collection DESCRIPTION The painting depicts a scene of vernacular architecture in Barcelona’s Horta neighborhood, at a time when it still preserved its rural and peaceful character. A dirt path opens between lush vegetation and the façades of traditional houses, wrapped in bougainvillea, ivy, and leafy trees. Light enters from the left, illuminating the walls with warm brushstrokes that contrast with the greens and violets defining the foliage. The atmosphere is serene, almost nostalgic, captured with a loose and impasto technique, especially visible in the sky and vegetation. The composition showcases the painter’s ability to harmonize architecture and nature, conveying the tranquility of a nearly hidden corner. The vibrant brushwork and mastery of color evoke a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility, heir to post-impressionism and the legacy of Joaquim Mir. ABOUT THE ARTIST: ANTONI LLOBET ARACIL Antoni Llobet Aracil was a Catalan painter born in Barcelona in 1910 (according to some sources, 1919) and died in 1983. He trained at the Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi and was a pupil of masters such as José Mongrell and Joaquim Mir. In 1931, he received a scholarship to continue his studies in Rome. His career included exhibitions in Paris, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Mallorca, as well as his native city. He led an itinerant life that enriched his pictorial vision and allowed him to develop a plastic language characterized by free use of color, energetic brushwork, and a poetic view of the landscape. In his works, Llobet blended the impressionist tradition with a Mediterranean sense of light. He alternated natural landscapes, seascapes, rural streets, and urban corners with a rich palette and atmospheric sensitivity. He worked as a drawing and painting teacher and exhibited in prominent venues such as Grifé & Escoda in Barcelona, as well as in Palma and Inca, Mallorca. ARTISTS WITH SIMILAR STYLE The work of Antoni Llobet Aracil can be linked to that of several Catalan and Mediterranean artists through his loose technique, treatment of the landscape, and warm palette: Joaquim Mir i Trinxet – for his impasto brushwork and vibrant luminosity. Rafael Durancamps – for the intimacy and warmth of his urban and rural landscapes. Josep Mompou – for chromatic harmony and evocative simplicity. Isidre Nonell (in some late landscapes) – for dense pictorial matter and atmospheric color. Ramón Vilanova...

Figures on Beach Shoreline Painting of Cliffs in Ireland Oil on Canvas 1990's, by Irish Artist Darren Paul. Art measures 17 x 13 inches Frame measures 24 x 19 inches This atmospheric coastal landscape captures the rugged beauty of Fair Head, one of Northern Ireland's most iconic natural landmarks. Painted with expressive brushwork and a sensitive understanding of light, the composition draws the viewer across the golden sands and shimmering waters towards the dramatic basalt cliffs that rise majestically above the sea. Soft coastal light filters through sweeping cloud formations, creating a sense of movement and changing weather that is synonymous with the wild Antrim coastline. In the foreground, figures strolling along the beach provide both scale and a human connection to the vast landscape, while the distant white cottages nestle beneath the imposing cliffs, emphasising the harmony between nature and rural life. The artist's confident handling of colour and texture evokes the fresh sea air, rolling surf and expansive horizons of this celebrated Irish location. Rich earth tones contrast beautifully with cool blues and silvery greys, creating a balanced and inviting composition that captures both the grandeur and tranquillity of the scene. A timeless portrayal of one of Ireland's most spectacular coastal settings, this painting will appeal to collectors of Irish landscapes, maritime subjects and works that celebrate the enduring beauty of the natural world. Darren Paul was born in Belfast in 1944. From childhood, Darren had an affinity for art. He attended art classes under the tutorage of Desmond Kinney...

itle: Landscape in Motion Artist: Antoni Llobet Aracil (1910-1983) Technique: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 14.2 x 14.2 in Framing: Unframed Style: Post-luminist Impressionism, Chromatic Expressionism Provenance: Private collection DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK "Landscape in Motion" encapsulates the essence of Antoni Llobet Aracil’s painting, an artist whose vibrant brushstrokes and expressive use of color convey a dynamic and lively atmosphere. In this piece, the thick application of paint takes center stage, with a rich impasto technique and an expressive chromatic range—hallmarks of his mentor, Joaquim Mir. The composition captures a moment where light and nature merge in a symphony of colors and textures. The artist’s loose and energetic strokes reinforce the idea that the landscape is not static but breathes and flows with the intensity of his palette. The interplay of deep shadows and radiant hues creates a strong sense of depth and movement, resulting in an almost sculptural effect on the canvas surface. BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST Antoni Llobet Aracil (Barcelona, 1910 - 1983) was a Catalan painter who studied at the Superior School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. A disciple of Joaquim Mir, he inherited his passion for color and heavy impasto, evolving into an impressionistic style with strong expressive qualities. In 1931, he received a scholarship to study in Italy, an experience that broadened his artistic perspective. He exhibited in various galleries in Barcelona, Paris, and Mallorca, where he lived for long periods. His works reflect his love for the Mediterranean landscape, using a rich palette of saturated tones and compositions that seek to capture the luminous essence of his surroundings. His artistic production mainly focused on landscape painting, with a painterly treatment close to Fauvism in its use of color, but rooted in Impressionism in its depiction of light. Throughout his career, Llobet Aracil established himself as a key figure in Post-Impressionist Catalan painting, leaving behind a legacy that today can be found in private collections and international auctions. SIMILAR ARTISTS To contextualize his work within the history of art, Antoni Llobet Aracil can be compared to the following artists: Joaquim Mir (1873-1940): His mentor and main influence, known for his free approach to color and emphasis on materiality in painting. Hermen Anglada Camarasa (1871-1959): Another major exponent of Catalan colorism, recognized for his vibrant palette and expressive compositions. Francesc Gimeno (1858-1927): Known for his landscapes with loose brushstrokes and thick textures. Josep Amat...
