The plate is circular with a wavy indented edge & moulded floral detail to the inner rim edge . These are a very good pair of finely hand enameled, Mason’s ironstone plates produced at the time when Mason's was owned and controlled by George L Ashworth and Brothers after the bankruptcy of C J Mason in 1848. Each plate is circular in shape and is decorated in one of Mason's most vividly colored and sought after chinoiserie patterns called "The flying bird" pattern, as documented on page 121 of; A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Masons Collectors' Club. The pattern would have been transfer printed then hand painted in bold enamels, with additional hand gilded detail. The colors of the hand enameling are particularly bold and bright on these plates, making them very decorative. The base of each plate carries one of the rarer marks with "Real Stone China...
