Benjamin Schlick Sculptures

Danish, 1796-1872

Benjamin Schlick was a Dane who lived in France and was made a Chevalier of the French Légion d'Honneur. He later moved to England and worked for Elkington Mason & Co. Some of his patrons were Frederick VI of Denmark, Charles X of France, Leopold, Grand Duke of Baden, Prince Torlonia in Rome and Prince Nicolai of Russia. An inkwell desk accessory by Benjamin Schlick was chosen by Queen Victoria as a gift to her husband Prince Albert in 1950.
