Revolutionary artist and illustrator Bob Peak creates a stunning work of golf-themed art that straddles representation and abstraction. Clearly, Peak drew inspiration from the color-field movement being featured in galleries in downtown Manhattan. Their work was about the interaction of blocks of color. Here, Peak shows his distinctive hybrid style of narrative art expressed in large swatches of color but painted with expressive brushwork with thick accumulation of paint in some places. Notice how almost all of the figures are so well delineated with a deep knowledge of academic painting and rigorous attention to body pose and anatomy. Peak has rendered almost every figure in this work of which the total number of rendered figures exceeds 200. The work was most likely done for an assignment for Sports Illustrated Magazine...
