Artist Comments
I see blue as a seminal color representing life in all its forms.

About the Artist
Pat Forbes is an abstract painter whose aesthetic is heavily influenced by her 20 years as a collector and dealer of Middle Eastern textiles. Pat, who lives on the Atlantic Ocean in Massachusetts, uses a neutral palette to present her interpretation of the world around her– from marshes and mountains to stones and spiderwebs. She is drawn to pattern and design, both of which influence the use of balanced repetition in her work. Pat’s muted colors invite pensive meditation, while her deliberate use of line guides the eye through satisfyingly symmetrical compositions.

The Satyr is Turned into Salt Water - colorful, abstract, acrylic on canvas

By Angela Letizia Renzi & Richard Tosczak

Located in Bloomfield, ON

Inspired by a famous Italian sculpture, this expressive series of abstract paintings in vivid colours was created by Canadian visual artist Richard Tosczak in collaboration with an Italian artist. Gestural brushstrokes of bright yellow, green, sky blue, melon white and a touch of pink swirl about the canvas in this dynamic composition. Tosczak is perhaps best known for his beautiful figurative sculptures. His collaborator in this series, Italian artist Angela Letizia Renzi is a ‘lover of literature and linguistics.’ “In 1998, a fisherman from Mazara del Vallo brought a bronze sculpture with mutilated arms and legs to the surface: the Satyr, a figure halfway between the human and animal worlds.” Tosczak and Renzi Richard Tosczak was born in Belgium. He studied philosophy and sculpture at the University of Alberta. At that time, Tosczak began working in steel and was influenced by a number of his professors who appreciated the work of a British abstract sculptor, Sir Anthony Caro considered one of the greatest sculptors of his generation. Further studies were pursued in France with another internationally acclaimed classic sculptor, Martine Vaugel...
