A fabulous, unique work by Mexican American, California artist Dora De Larios.
De Larios, who was born in Los Angeles to Mexican immigrant parents. She grew up in the artistic Silver Lake district near downtown Los Angeles amongst Mexican and Nisei Japanese immigrants. As a result, De Larios was heavily influenced by both ancient American, Hispanic, and Japanese ceramics. This bowl is a prime example of her more Japanese-influenced work with its beautiful clean lines, glossy thick glaze, and Japanese-looking characters/ symbols.
