Element Clay Studio Sculptures

American, b. 1977
I’ve been working with clay for nearly two decades, shaping each form by hand and finding endless inspiration in the quiet rhythms of nature. What began as a small studio practice in Asheville has grown into a life’s work—one rooted in intention, texture, and the beauty of slow, meticulous craftsmanship. Today, I create from my home studio in Savannah, where a light-filled workspace and the stillness of my surroundings allow me to work with focus and care. Every piece begins with a simple gesture: a coil, a petal, a folded edge. Layer by layer, these small movements become sculptural works that echo the symmetry of flowers, the movement of landscapes, and the organic structures found in the natural world. My practice is intentionally hands-on. I don’t use molds or mass production techniques; instead, I build each piece individually, letting the clay guide the form. This process is slow by design. It’s my way of creating objects that carry presence, pieces meant to be lived with, touched, and cherished over time. My work has found its way into homes, collections, and design projects around the world, but at its core, it remains deeply personal. Every sculpture is a reflection of curiosity, discipline, and a desire to create beauty that feels both modern and timeless. Thank you for being here and for supporting work made by hand. It’s an honor to create pieces that become part of your space and your life.
