Center Table Shou Sugi Ban 'Burned' American Solid Ashwood with Agate Slab
By Ernesto Duran
Located in Polanco, CDMX
Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient Japanese exterior siding technique that preserves wood by charring it. The process involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning it, and finishing it with a natural oil. Although time consuming, the final product is not only gorgeous, with its rich, silvery finish; the charred wood also resists fire, rot, insects, and can last up to 80 years. And not to mention, it's absolutely gorgeous. This original center table was design by Ernesto Duran, who wanted to express how this world lockdown has allowed nature to take back its place in our planet. The Agate is from Brazil, it´s perfectly located on top and side of the ashwood table...
