Console Table No. 1 - Fluentum Series in bent ash wood by Raka Studio
About the Item
The console is designed using the ancient Japanese technique of wood bending. At Raka Studio we create designs using this technique which are fluid in their form and are coherent with the laws of nature. The base design is constantly in motion and there are no straight edges, one extension seamlessly emerges from the other as if it were a branch growing out of a trunk.
The base that balances the whole structure holds the solid wood top from two points. The third point converges into the top as if it were a part of the top.
The Studio has taken its exploration of wood further with the Fluentum Series. This Series uses techniques and skills learned over the years to create works that embody details that are unique to the Studio's design aesthetic and the craft of bending wood. These techniques allow the natural flow of the wood to take the reins of design; therefore, no two pieces are exactly the same, making each piece unique.
