It measures 14 2/3'' in height by 9 1/2'' from handle to spout by 7 1/2'' in depth, weighs 39.2 ozt, and bears hallmarks as shown. Originally in Massachusetts, Whiting Manufacturing Company relocated to New York in 1875. The company was purchased by Gorham in 1924 and the production transferred to Providence, Rhode Island. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver mug has a plain tapering cylindrical form. The surface of this antique silver mug is embellished with an exceptional contemporary bright cut engraved coast of arms and crest depicting a demi-stag chained and collared. The upper and lower portions are encircled with tooled decorated borders to the rims. This ladies antique silver mug is fitted with an impressive tooled decorated S-scroll handle. The underside of the mug is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription: 'The Gift of Mrs Hourman at the age of eighty eight to her Great Grandson Edwd John Fisher, Novr 3 1790'.
