On paper with some fraying and tears to edges of paper. The paper is very thin and care in handling is paramount. Will need to mounted and matted. Provenance: David J Carlson, Carlson Gallery, California. Carlson's specialty is Post-World War II California artists. Born in Bellingham, Washington, Fredrick Reichman became a California painter whose work combined Impressionism and elements of Japanese painting. He arrived in California in 1934 and attended the University of California Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute. Many of his paintings had images of everyday life such as cats, birds, kitchen and tables, which gave the impression of floating in space. In the late 1950's, he focused on landscapes, and in the 1960's on interior still lifes and the effects of light and color. Reichman's art has been exhibited across the world including the San Francisco Museum of Art, 1956, California Palace of the Legion of Honor 1960, and Galerie 8, Paris 1953.
