Fully restored mid century modern lounge chair. Made by Gelli industry de móveis in the 1950s. The frame is made from rosewood with a rich and deep color and magnificent graining. The one piece seat follows the elegant curves of the frame. The frame has been completely taken apart and repaired and strengthened were needed. Sanded, cleaned, oiled and waxed. The seat frame has been stripped. New foam, fiberfill and reupholstered in Merino wool Teddy fabric. The chair has several stamps and labels. The labels underneath the seat were kept visible while the stamps and labels on the seat frame have been covered by the upholstery. It even has the original customs stamps on them in cruzeiro which was the Brazilian currency...

The structure is made of Brazilian hardwood and the seat/backrest are made in white suede. This model is called “Canoa” (Canoe) and was inspired by the typical Brazilian canoes used in the tropical rainforest. The set has been re-upholstered, and the wood refinished. Besides the marks of time, which ultimately give character, the piece in excellent condition. Both armchairs have the manufacture plaque in the front under the seat and are old as set of two.
