Pair of Modern Brazilian Rosewood Armchairs by Gelli, circa the 1950s
About the Item
Designed by Gelli, a pair of modern Brazilian armchairs, rosewood, and leather. Brazil, circa the 1950s.
Pair of armchairs made in Brazilian Rosewood (Jacaranda) and recently reupholstered in a high-quality beige pattern leather by the experienced craftsmen in our team.
The armchairs feature gently curved front legs and carved armrests with leather lining for better comfort while resting arms. The leather backrest rests on a wooden frame, evidencing its single volume of seat and backs.
In the 1950s the metal upholstery tacks were used for an excellent leather finish, and the restoration proposal was to maintain them.
"Casa Gelli," considered the first furniture factory in Petropolis (Rio de Janeiro), produced in large scale for Brazilian houses since the last decade of the 19th century, the pieces by Gelli contributed to the history of the Brazilian furniture.
