George G. Adomeit Paintings
American, 1879-1967
A major painter of American scene subjects, George Adomeit was born in Memel, Germany, and came to Cleveland at the age of four with his family. Encouraged by his family, he set up a drawing studio in his home at the age of eight. Adomeit took art lessons throughout his high school years and, after winning a full scholarship to the Cleveland School of Art, chose instead a three-year apprenticeship in lithography. He was the cofounder of the Caxton Company, an engraving and commercial art firm that gained national acclaim.
Adomeit's talent for drawing led him to formal training at the Cleveland School of Art, where he graduated in 1911. His first exhibition was of work done outdoors in Zoar, Ohio, a popular plein air painting locale for artists interested in rural subject matter. His imagery was inspired by many other locations, including the Cleveland area and vacation spots such as Cape Cod, Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine, and sites in Mexico, Canada and Brazil.
Adomeit gained a national reputation by showing in exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and many museums in the East and Midwest. After his retirement from the Caxton Company in 1956, Adomeit continued to travel, paint and exhibit.to

"Bridge Over the Neckar, Town of Heidelberg" - Original Oil Painting on Canvas
A beautiful German landscape, by American painter, Betty Brenner (1922-2016), captures the Karl Theodor Bridge and its reflection. Commonly known as the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke), it is an arch bridge in Heidelberg that crosses the Neckar river. It connects the Old City with the eastern part of the Neuenheim district of the city on the opposite bank. The current bridge, made of Neckar sandstone and the ninth built on the site, was constructed in 1788 by Elector Charles Theodore, and is one of the best-known landmarks and tourist destinations in Heidelberg.

Adolf Dehn (November 22, 1895 – May 19, 1968) was an American artist known mainly as a lithographer. Throughout his artistic career, he participated in and helped define some important movements in American art, including regionalism, social realism, and caricature. A two-time recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, he was known for both his technical skills and his high-spirited, droll depictions of human foibles.
Adolph Dehn was born in 1895 in Waterville, Minnesota. He began creating artwork at the age of six, and by the time of his death had created nearly 650 images.
Dehn went to the Minneapolis School of Art (known today as the Minneapolis College of Art and Design), where he met and became a close friend of Wanda Gag. In 1917 he and Gág were two of only a dozen students in the country to earn a scholarship to the Art Students League of New York. He was drafted to serve in World War I in 1918, but declared himself a conscientious objector and spent four months in a guardhouse detention camp in Spartanburg, SC and then worked for eight months as a painting teacher at an arm rehabilitation hospital in Asheville, NC. Later, Dehn returned to the Art Students League for another year of study and created his first lithograph, The Harvest.
In 1921 Dehn's lithographs were featured in his first exhibition at Weyhe Gallery in New York City. From 1920 to 1921 in Manhattan, he was connected to New York's politically left-leaning activists. In 1921, he went to Europe. In Paris and Vienna he belonged to a group of expatriate intellectuals and artists, including Andrée Ruellan, Gertrude Stein, and ee cummings...

Impressionist Oil Painting – Sunset Over Colorado Front Range Landscape
By Charles Partridge Adams
Located in Denver, CO
This evocative oil on canvas painting by renowned American landscape artist Charles Partridge Adams (1858–1942) beautifully captures a glowing sunset along Colorado's majestic Front Range. Rendered in a refined Tonalist style, the work features tall, mature trees bathed in soft hues of green, amber, gold, and rust, evoking the serene transition of day into evening in the Western landscape.
Although unsigned, this work is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the artist’s estate, ensuring provenance and collector confidence. The painting is presented in a vintage gold frame, enhancing its timeless appeal. Framed dimensions measure 18 ½ x 26 ¼ inches; the canvas itself measures 16 x 24 inches.
This piece reflects Adams’s signature ability to translate the quiet drama of nature into rich, atmospheric compositions. A fine addition to any collection of American Western art, Tonalism, or early 20th-century landscape painting.
About the Artist:
Charles Partridge Adams (1858–1942) was one of Colorado’s most celebrated landscape painters and a prominent figure in the American West’s early art scene. Born in Franklin, Massachusetts, Adams relocated to Denver in 1876.
